AIRPORT GROUND HANDLING TRAINING
In airline operations, the term Ground Operations or Ground Handling refers to the servicing of an aircraft after its arrival and while parked at the terminal gate of an airport.
Usually, Airport Ground Handling Agents provide such services and it is mainly divided into two areas:
RAMP SERVICES AND PASSENGER SERVICES.
Ground handling services include all the services an aircraft needs during the period it remains on the ground. Some airlines receive these services from a ground handling services company while others prefer to use their own equipment.
Some of the services that an aircraft on ground needs are Cabin cleaning, Catering, aircraft marshalling, towing with pushback tractors, refilling freshwater tanks, lavatory drainage, luggage handling usually by means of belt loaders and baggage carts, air conditioning and air start units, Air cargo handling, usually by means of cargo dollies, and cargo loaders, Refuelling, which may be done with a refuelling tanker truck or refuelling pumper, ground power, aerobridge or passenger stairs, etc.
